Carole L. Routté, 61, of Wyomissing, PA, passed away September 2, 2012 at 1:00 a.m. in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she was a patient since August 30th.

She was the beloved wife of Reverend Luther Routté, and mother of Jesse, husband of Emily Mooney Routté, and Irene Routté and grandmother of Amani Christopher Routté. She is also survived by her step-son Guy Routté, step-daughter, Lynore Routté, and her step-grandson, Arjuna Priere Routté.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, on October 5, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Krempa) Switlyk. Carole was a 1973 graduate of the College of Staten Island, CUNY with a BA in Psychology and Women's Studies. She also completed the Teacher Certification Program at Alvernia University, in 1995 and PDE ESL Specialist Certification Program at Penn State University, in 2003.

Carole was the ESL teacher for the Antietam School District, Reading, PA from 1995-2007, where she developed and implemented an ESL program for grades K-12. From 2007-2009, she was the ESL teacher for the Reading Family Literacy Program and from 2009 to the present she taught ESL classes to Reading Area Community College adult students.

She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church from 1988 to 2008, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and also served as President of the Women of Atonement. Most recently, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading from 2008 to the present.

She is survived by a brother, Dr. Paul Switlyk of Portland, OR and by two sisters, Joanne Grenz, wife of Russell Grenz, also of Portland, OR and Mary Willis, wife of Allen Willis of Easton, PA.

Carole committed her life to loving and serving her family, friends, students and each person who crossed her path. Dedicated to her service in the classroom and in church, through both organizing and volunteering, Carole was a respected and beloved person in our community.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to: American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
