Sister Carol Anne Heitgen, OSF

Sister Carol Anne Heitgen, 89, of the Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, died of natural causes on Sunday morning, January 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Villa, Reading, PA, where she had resided since 2019.

Born in Salem, SD, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise (Redig) Heitgen.

Sister Carol Anne entered the Bernardine Sisters on July 26, 1953, and was in her 72nd year of religious life. Sister earned a BA degree in History from Madonna College and an M.Ed. from Marygrove College. She served her ministry in California, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Texas as an elementary teacher, principal, director of novices, pastoral and activities director, coordinator of bereavement ministry, elder care, and as a local minister.

Sister is survived by the members of her Bernardine Franciscan Congregation. There are no surviving immediate family members.
