Carol A. Matz

Carol A. (Neatock) Matz, of Birdsboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019, in the care of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Reading, she was the wife of Barry L. Matz, and they truly celebrated 47 years of marriage together. Carol was the daughter of the late Marvin and Margaret (Grant) Neatock.

A graduate of Daniel Boone High School, Carol worked as a secretary to the corporate purchasing agent for Gilbert Associates, Inc., where she met Barry. She then dedicated her life to the church as a secretary for almost 25 years, first for St. Paul's Church, Birdsboro, and finally with St. James Church, West Reading.

She was an incredibly loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed nothing more than filling her home with her family for delicious dinners and, of course, great holiday celebrations. She enjoyed quiet times with Barry, and spending time outdoors in her garden and watching the countless birds that would visit her bird feeding area. She was a woman of great faith, using her gifts to help countless others as a leader in the church.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by sons Mike, husband of Shana (Bellairs), Shillington, and Scott, longtime boyfriend of Sarah Berkley, Exeter, as well as her grandson Joseph. She will also be greatly missed by her loving dog, Cody, and grand-dog, Chance.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 5:30 PM at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends may call prior to the service from 4:00-5:30 PM at the funeral home.
