Carmen Iris Roman

Carmen Iris (Malave) Roman passed away on January 8, 2026, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 21, 1952, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to her mother, Emerita Garcia. She moved to New York where she lived until her early 30s and then moved to Pennsylvania.

Carmen fell in love with her first boyfriend Jose Ramon Roman, who became her husband in 1970. 55 years later they remained together until her passing. She loved her son Adonis, J. Roman, who she adopted when he was six years old.

A true servant of God, Carmen loved the Lord above all. She was active in her church and held many positions, such as Sunday School Teacher as well as Treasurer. In her professional career, she worked for and retired from the Reading School District. She started as a lunch aid, and finished her time as a paraprofessional, where she was viewed as a positive spirit with a smile and personality all her coworkers as well as students fell in love with. But if you asked her, her greatest career was her Avon business that she did for over 25 years, mentoring many young women along the way.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading scripture, doing number puzzles, watching her favorite evangelical preachers and listening to their sermons. She also had a love for Betty Boop. She was definitely a dog person and loved all her dogs (Lady, Snowy, Snowflake and Winnie). Carmen also enjoyed doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren and watching shows on TV about antiques.

Carmen is survived by her husband Jose, son Adonis, grandchildren: Ariela, Gabriella, and Kaleb, as well as her siblings Edwin, Juan Daniel, Daisy and Alicia, as well as her mother Emerita. She was preceded in death by her brother Luis, and her stepfather Juan, who she valued and cherished as a father.
