Carmen Cardinal

Carmen "Bud" Cardinal, 87, of Mohnton, died July 9, 2012, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in West Reading on July 23, 1924, he was a son of the late Charles, Sr. and Antoinette Mary (Lavigna) Cardinal.

He was a 1943 graduate of West Reading High School where he was a member of the varsity soccer team from 1941-1942.

Bud was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Met Ed as a transmission engineer surveyor.

He was a member of the West Reading Fire Company Beneficial Society and the Dutchman Ski Club, Reading.

Bud enjoyed skiing and his pets. He was a Philadelphia sports fan, supporting the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers.

Bud is survived by his sister, Rita Cardinal, Exeter Township; one nephew, Bret, husband of Jackie Cardinal, with whom he resided and four nieces: Carmen Rothe, Sacramento, CA; Roxanne Gaylor, Lisa Nunez, both of Reading and Francine Chase, Windsor, VA.

He was predeceased by two brothers: Charles Cardinal and Richard Cardinal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611 and Saturday 9:30 to 10 a.m. in the church.
