Carmelo F. Spadaro, 84, of Reading, passed away on April 22, 2014 in his residence.
He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Kaminski) Spadaro, whom he married on April 14, 1956.
Born in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Angelo and Letizia (Novelli) Spadaro.
Carmelo was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School.
He was an International Representative for the United Rubber, Cork and Linoleum Workers of America for 14 years, retiring in 1993.
Carmelo was employed for 28 years by Firestone as Recovery Operator, retiring in 1979.
He was also a parishioner of Holy Rosary R. C. Church.
Carmelo was a U.S. Army veteran, servicing in the Korean War.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 59 years, is his daughter Cheryl A. (Spadaro) Young, Reading, PA and his two grandchildren, Christopher Young and Lindsay Young, whom he loved very much.
He is predeceased by his siblings John Spadaro and Grace Bialek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church. A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to support the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania and mailed to Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market St, Ste 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
