Carmelo Lembo

Carmelo "Carmy" Lembo, 86, of Shillington, died February 21 at 5:15 p.m. in Reading Hospital where he had been since February 16.

He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Davis) Lembo.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Angelo and Rosalia (Calabro) Lembo.

He was employed by the former Textile Machine Works for many years until his retirement.

Lembo was a tennis teacher for 50 years employed by the Wyomissing Parks Department. He also taught tennis at the YMCA. He taught and introduced the game of tennis to more than 1.000 people in Berks County over the past 25 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Berks County Tennis Club.

Lembo was an inductee into both the Berks County Tennis Association and the Berks County Table Tennis Association Hall of Fames.

He was a licensed barber.

Lembo was a member of the Friends of the Reading Museum.

He very much enjoyed traveling; destinations in his travel included, Italy, Switzerland, Venezuela, Spain and throughout the United States.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Janet L. (Lembo) wife of Francis DeAndrea, Clarks Summit, PA and Rosanne (Lembo) wife of Rinaldo Serapioni, Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

Other survivors include three sisters Rose (Lembo) Muthart, Reading, Pearl (Lembo) Andriozzi, Lebanon and Grace (Lembo) Schnader, Allentown. There are also three grandchildren, Christian DeAndrea, Baltimore, MD, Alicia DeAndrea, Jersey City, NJ and Massimo Serapioni, attending University in Switzerland.

Services will be Monday at 9 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Tennis Program at the Boro of Wyomissing Recreation Department 22 Reading Blvd. Wyomising,PA 19610.
