Carmella "Millie" Fitterling, 78, peacefully passed away on the evening of February 15, 2007 in her Colony Park residence.
Her husband John R. Fitterling passed away November 16, 2001. They were married in Elkton, MD on April 19, 1947.
Born April 15, 1928 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John and Lucia (Verrichio) Russo.
She had been employed for many years as a pairer by Berkshire Knitting Mills. She also worked for Willson Safety products until her retirement.
Millie enjoyed traveling, bingo, a good card game, spending winters in Floida and gardening. She was a great cook and baker and the family all looked forward to an invitation to her table. Kind hearted and caring, she was happiest taking care of her family and pets.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Surviving is a daughter, Brandie (Fitterling) wife of Kevin Matthews, Birdsboro. Other survivors include two sisters, Stella (Russo) Vanover, Temple and Nancy (Russo) Beck, Reading and a brother Albert Russo, Riverview Park. She was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo Franco and Anthony Franco. Also surviving are several nieces and nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius R.C.C. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the Mass at the church. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
