Carmela Spadafora

Carmela "Mela" Spadafora, 64, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in her Wyomissing residence.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tommaso Spadafora, who she married October 18, 1969.

Born in Sersale, (CZ) Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Antonietta L. Gigliotti.

Carmela was a member of Holy Rosary R. C. Church, Reading.

She immigrated to the U.S. in 1980 and worked at H. Oritsky, Inc. for ten years, retiring in 1992. Mela devoted her life to taking care of her family. Her passion for crocheting and knitting leaves every member of her family with a keepsake to treasure.

In addition to her husband Tommaso, Mela is survived by two sons: Matteo, with whom she resided, husband of Natalya Spadafora, Wyomissing, and Francesco Spadafora, Panama City, FL. There are two grandchildren: Sonia Spadafora and Thomas Spadafora, and three sibilings: Rosa, wife of Giuseppe Scarpino, Sandra, wife of Mario Scarpino and Alex Gigliotti, husband of Lynette. One niece, five nephews, and three great-nieces also survive her.

A Prayer Service will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Chapel of Resurrection in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
