Carmela Haggerty

Carmela "Millie" (Brusca) Haggerty, 89, formerly of Muhlenberg Township died April 25, 2013 in her residence at Hearthstone at Maidencreek.

She was married 60 years to John Felix Haggerty, Jr., who died March 19, 2003.

Born in Reading, PA on August 17, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Guiseppe and Lena (Capizzi) Brusca.

She and her late husband were the owners of Johnny's Food Market for 25 years.

Carmela was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

She is survived by a son, John F. III, husband of Nina L. (Heffner) Haggerty, of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include two grandchildren: John F. IV, husband of Chantelle R. (Greenawalt) Haggerty of Orefield, Lehigh County and Kelli L. (Haggerty), wife of Dr. Russell E. Emrich, of Muhlenberg Township.

There are also four great grandchildren: Devon R. Haggerty, John F. "Ian" Haggerty V, R.J. Emrich and Marli E. Emrich.

Carmela is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jane (Haggerty), widow of Raymond Kase Sr., of Wyomissing.

She was predeceased by a brother, John G. Brusca.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 am in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, (Muhlenberg Township), Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held from one hour prior to Mass in the Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.
