Carmela Bortz, 86, of Reading, died October 5, 2011 in ManorCare, West Reading.
She was the cherished wife of Harry Bortz, Sr. for over 60 years.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Helen (Fierro) Pullano.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses South Congregation, Reading. Since 1954, she dedicated her life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses joyfully sharing in preaching about the good news of God's Kingdom government. Her love of Jehovah and his son, Jesus Christ and faith in Jehovah's purpose to restore the Earth to a Paradise and reunite us with loved ones lost in death was her hope, her reality.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children: Harry, Jr., husband of Robin Bortz, West Reading; David, husband of Lazara Bortz, West Lawn; Jody, husband of Terry Bortz, Danville and Ellen, wife of Theodore Titlow, Womelsdorf. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive her.
Services will be Saturday, October 15th at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harry Bortz, Sr., in Carmela's memory, P.O. Box 4094, Reading, PA 19606.
