Carlos Ortega Rivera

Carlos Ortega Rivera, 70, passed away on September 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Carlos Ortega and Emilian Rivera. Carlos spent years working as a mechanic, and even when illness struck, his love for classic cars never waned- he remained a devoted car enthusiast throughout his life. He also held an enduring love for salsa romántica and rhythm & blues music. Above all, Carlos’s favorite pastime was spending time with the family he cherished and the community that supported him.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his children, Carlesha (Green) Halkias, William Calloway, Darshon Rivera, Tiana Ortega Rivera, Ivy Rivera, and Emily (Ortega) Drayton; and his surviving siblings, Carmen Ortega, Migdalia Ortega, Angie Caceres, and William Ortega; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings.
