Carletta Marion Ruffner

Carletta "Cart" Marion (Berger) Ruffner, 83, formerly of Gretchen Drive, Shillington, passed away June 14, 2013 at 5:15 p.m. in Berks Heim, where she was a resident since 2009.

She was the wife of the late Robert Martin Ruffner who died August 9, 1998.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, she was a daughter of the late William Solomon and Mae Gladys (Messer) Berger.

She was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School.

Carletta was the co-owner of B & C Sandwich Shop, Reading, for 25 years and also worked at the Astor Theater.

She was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Reading.

Carletta is survived by a daughter, Cynthia M.(Ruffner), wife of Michael J. Dever, Charlotte, NC and a son, Randy M., husband of Belinda Ruffner, Riverview Park. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Bryon, Kelly, Corey, Stacey, Kristen, Alexander and Tyler as well as seven great-grandchildren: Christopher, Angel, Ethan, Jordyn, Grace, Judah and Emily.

She was predeceased by three brothers: M. Gerald Berger, Donald W. Berger, Gale Berger and three sisters: Jean H. (Berger) Sheehan, Lola A. (Berger) Lerch and Arlys M. (Berger) Gauker.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605.
