Carl William Slisher, 85, of Bern Township, passed away on February 12, 2024. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of the late Col. Weldon L. and Vivian K. (Arklie) Slisher. Carl was the beloved husband of Alice (Zebelean) Slisher, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.
Carl was a 1958 graduate of Highland Park High School, Highland Park, IL. After graduating, he made the commitment to honor his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. Following his service, Carl attended Ferris State College, majoring in Heavy Equipment and Diesel Mechanics.
After college, Carl followed his passion for aviation. He obtained his private pilot's license, became a flight instructor, and earned many certifications including Airline Transport Pilot. He worked as the Corporate Chief Pilot for Gilbert Associates who relocated him and his family in 1981 to Reading in order to establish their flight department. Carl spent his whole life in the air, retiring as the Chief Pilot for Arrow International. Throughout his career Carl logged a total of 24,677.2 hours in the sky and flew everything from vintage aircraft to modern jets.
Flying was his passion, but he also enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader.
In addition to his spouse, Carl is survived by his children: Traci A., wife of Sloan Fisher, Fleetwood and Edward C. Slisher, husband of Michele, Oley along with J. Matthew Fangman, husband of Aimee, Fleetwood and Michael E. Fangman, West Lawn; His grandchildren: Ross Fisher, Molly Cafoncelli, Hannah Fisher, Lillie Slisher, Phillip Fangman, and Jaclyn Fangman; and his four great grandchildren: Olivia, Mikaela, Domenic, and Riley; numerous nephews; and one niece. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Sulsa, Williamsburg, VA and Sandi Kanicki, husband of James, Pierpont, OH.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Alban's Dr, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Friends and family will be received beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11am.
