Carl William Johnson, Jr., 70, of Tamaqua, passed away at Laurel Center, Hamburg, on March 27, 2025. Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of Carl William Johnson, Sr. and Barbara (Clauser) Johnson. He was the husband of Judy Summers, whom he loved dearly for 35 years.
Carl proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy for 4 years, serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Newport News. He continued his education through Job Corps, gaining knowledge on auto body repair. He dedicated his career to Paris Accessories and Stanwood Mills as a machine operator.
Carl continued his service to others as a volunteer firefighter and fire policeman. He applied his mechanical skills to work on cars and had a passion for music, animals, sketching, and delicious food. Additionally, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the New York Giants and Mets, and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.
In addition to Judy, he is survived by his son, Jay Johnson; his siblings: Joy Johnson, Debbie Coffee, Mike Johnson, and Ricky Johnson; and two grandchildren, Brett and Felicia. Additionally, he is survived by his ex-spouse, Deborah (Brunner) Johnson, Judy's sister and nephew, Jane Summers and Justin Summers.
Carl was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Kirk Johnson.
