Carl Harold Hinnershitz, 86, of Perry Township, died April 20, 2012 in Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Township.
He was the husband of Martha Carolyn (Hoppes) Hinnershitz who died June 2, 1993.
Born October 28, 1925 in Shoemakersville, he was a son of the late Harold Meck and Mabel May (Strausser) Hinnershitz.
Carl was a 1943 graduate of Perry High School.
He was self employed as an auto mechanic and was the owner of Hinnershitz Garage. He retired in 1987.
Carl served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of St. John's Gernant's United Church of Christ, Leesport.
Surviving is a daughter, Diana L., wife of David A. Freyberger of Ruscombmanor Township.
Other survivors include two granddaughters, Cynthia A., wife of John A. Galeassi, III of Fleetwood and Christine L. Freyberger of Temple and two great grandchildren, Jossalyn C. and Anthony C. Galeassi.
Carl was predeceased by three siblings: Evelyn Hartman, Betty Walters and Robert Hinnershitz.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Gernant's U.C.C., 12 Gernant's Church Road, Leesport, PA 19533. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
