Carl S. Goodnow, retired Berks businessman and former township supervisor, died Dec. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 15.

Goodnow, 92, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing, formerly of Ontelaunee Township, was predeceased by his first wife, Helen (Kreidler) Goodnow, on July 8, 1973, and by his second wife, Leona (Rozelle) Davis Goodnow, on Jan. 5, 1998.

Goodnow was the owner of Maidencreek Farm Supply Co. from 1953 until his retirement in May 1998.

He was a former supervisor in Ontelaunee Township.

Goodnow was born in Philadelphia.

He was previously employed as a farmer in the Kutztown area for several years.

Goodnow was a Navy veteran

He was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Tuckerton, where he was a former treasurer.

Goodnow was a life member and 50-year member of Huguenot Lodge 377 F&AM, Kutztown.

Surviving are two stepsons, Nelson Ziegler, Cresco, Monroe County, and Robert Davis, Scranton; and three stepdaughters: Vera (Ziegler) Kuhn, Staunton, Va.; Judith (Davis) Weippert, Toms River, N.J.; and Susan (Davis) McNichols, West Wyoming, Luzerne County.

Other survivors include nine stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd UCC. Burial will be private in Moscow Cemetery, Lackawanna County. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
