Carl E. Strittmatter, 83, of 503 North Temple Blvd (Muhlenberg Township) Temple, Pa 19560, died February 12th at 9:45 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been since January 30th.
He was the husband of Ella M. (Wisser) Strittmatter.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Edwin and Jennie (Jenkins) Strittmatter.
He was a 1939 graduate of Myers High School, Wilkes-Barre and a 1948 graduate of Kutztown University.
Strittmatter later recieved his Masters Degree at Lehigh University.
He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple, where he was a former Church Council Member.
He was a 29 year Veteran of the Army, discharged as a Colonel, serving in both WWII and Korea.
Strittmatter worked 35 years as an educator, serving his last seven years as a superintendent for the Muhlenberg School District before retiring in 1979.
He is also survived by a daughter, Carla (Strittmatter) wife of Howard Crow of Hillsboro, New Jersey.
There are also two grandsons, Matthew Crow and Alexander Crow.
Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Rev. Lynda Elmer officiating. Viewing Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
