Carl Gerald Arnold, 98, of Shillington, died February 12, 2011 in the Berkshire Center.
He was the husband of Jennie M. (DiPaolo) Arnold.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Francis A. and Frances (Arnold) Arnold.
Carl was a parts clerk for Marshall Chevrolet, Reading, for 28 years, until his retirement in 1975.
He was active in scouting for over 40 years. Carl was the Scout Master for Shillington troop #237 for 20 years, receiving the Silver Beaver award as well as the St. George Award.
Carl was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle, Shillington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, C. Gary, husband of Anne Arnold, Spring Township. Also surviving is his brother, Jesse F., husband of Mary Arnold, Reading. There are two grandchildren: Pamela A., wife of Michael J. Progansky III. and Keith J., husband of Jennifer Arnold and three great-grandchildren: Paige A. Progansky, Braeden P. Arnold and Colin J. Arnold.
He was predeceased by four siblings: Harold Arnold, Donald Arnold, Rita Geeseman and Paul Arnold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle, 420 Holland St. Shillington, PA 19607. A viewing will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Baptist de la Salle at the above address.
