Candace P. Geissler

Candace Patricia "Candy" Geissler, 77, passed away on February 11, 2026, in the care of the Cleveland Clinic, following a difficult cardiac surgery. She was the loving wife of Michael F. "Mike" Geissler, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage full of love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories.

Born in Schenectady, Candy was the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Newman) Peterson. As a young child, she moved with her family to Scotch Plains, where she graduated with honors from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and was inducted into the National Honor Society. She went on to study medical technology at Elizabethtown College, completing her clinical training at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey. It was at Elizabethtown that she met Mike, the love of her life. They married in 1971 and built their life together in Wyomissing Hills. Candy loved her new hometown and became quite well-known in the community.

Candy began her career as a medical technologist at Reading Hospital. She and Mike later owned and operated Berkshire Beverage in West Reading for 18 years. After leaving Reading Hospital in 1985, Candy was able to focus on her true passion, taking care of her daughters, Michelle and Jessica. Candy was a loving mother and supported her daughters in their many scholastic, athletic, and extra-curricular endeavors. While her daughters were in school and long after they graduated, Candy was a fixture at Wyomissing Area schools. She volunteered or worked at all the school sites for many years in many capacities, participated in the PTA, headed the ski club, and coached the girls bowling team. Candy also was a part of the Women's Auxiliary of Reading Hospital and served as chair of the annual Garden Party for two years. Candy's family and friends would jokingly call her "Miss Volunteer". She also went back to work part-time at the Reading Hospital and was a substitute teacher.

In her free time, Candy found joy in reading, counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, gardening, decorating for the holidays, traveling, and cheering on her favorite teams - especially the Phillies. She rarely missed a chance to attend Wyomissing High School sporting events, a tradition she kept for over 50 years. She and Mike also bowled together in a league at Berks Lanes for decades.

Above all, Candy's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud and loving mother, and a deeply cherished grandmother. To her grandchildren - Ethan, Andrew, Nicholette, and Hanna - she was lovingly known as Mommom.

Candy is survived by her beloved husband, Mike; her daughter Michelle Clark of Lodi, California, her husband Greg, and their sons Ethan and Andrew; her daughter Jessica Hetrick of West Lawn, her husband Harrison, and their daughters Nicholette and Hanna; her sister-in-law Kathleen and her husband Joseph Morone; her sister-in-law Virginia Geissler; and her brother-in-law Jonathan Geissler and his wife Deb. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Cathy (Peterson) Matzen.

A Celebration of Candy's Life will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
