Cameron T. Witmer

Cameron T. "Woody" Witmer, 79, of Spring Township, died February 24, 2007 at 9:55 am in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township, where he had been a patient since January 25th.

He was the husband of Julianne (Haas) Witmer.

Born March 28, 1927 in West Reading, he was a son of the late Charles and Bessie (Crichton) Witmer.

He was a 1945 graduate of West Reading High School.

Cameron was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He was a member of Kissinger's Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

Cameron was an architectural designer in New York City for a number of years where some of his works included designing windows for the Juilliard School of Music.

He was later a teacher of carpentry at Berks County Vo-Tech, Muhlenberg Township.

Cameron was last employed for many years at Papwil Homes, Leesport, retiring in 1992.

He was an avid model railroader and featured in the Reading Eagle showing his modeling skills.

Cameron is also survived by two daughters, Kristine M. (Witmer) Batten, M.D., wife of George Batten, M.D., of Danville, California and A. Jean Witmer of West Reading.

Other survivors include three sons, Thomas C. husband of Diane Witmer of Mohrsville; John C. husband of Karen Witmer of Exeter Township and Peter A. Witmer of West Wyomissing.

There are also six grandchildren, Erika Batten, Elizabeth Batten, Kimberly Batten, Michael Witmer, Daniel Witmer and Andrew Witmer.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
