Dr. Calvin Trexler Klopp, 89, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Reading, died June 13 in the Washington Home.
He was the husband of Ellen S. (Spangler) Klopp.
Born in Atlantic City, N.J. he was a son of the late Ray C. and Sallie M. (Trexler) Klopp.
Klopp began his career at Boston City Hospital and spent 30 years at the George Washington University Medical Center where he served as Warwick professor of surgery, medical director of the University Clinic and professor emeritus of surgery.
He was a surgery fellow and resident at Memorial Hospital, New York City.
Klopp was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
He was a graduate of Swarthmore College and and was a 1938 cum laude graduate of Harvard University Medical School.
Klopp is also survived by two sons, Benjamin, Georgetown, S.C., and Dr. Spangler P., Lewes, Del.; and a daughter, Cynthia (Klopp) Butler, Ottawa, Canada.
Other survivors include eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be in the Oley Cemetery at a future date. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
