Calvin Kenneth O'Neil, 80, died June 7, 2011 in his Centre Township residence.

He was the husband of Cecelia Theodora (Nagle) O'Neil, whom he married February 14, 1957.

Born in Reading, PA on September 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Thomas and Estelle (Neiderer) O'Neil.

Calvin was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School, where he was on the varsity basketball team.

He was employed in the laboratory with Carpenter Technology, Reading, retiring in January, 1986.

Calvin was earlier employed with Trimmaster.

He was a Korean Era Veteran, serving with the United States Air Force's 2nd Radio Squadron Mobile.

Calvin was active with the Cub Scouts when his boys were younger.

He loved to travel, play poker, listen to the oldies or country music and taking photographs.

Calvin is also survived by three children: Clark W. O'Neil of Centre Township; Michael S. O'Neil of Lenhartsville and Wendy J. Ganikon and her partner Joseph M. Smith of Temple.

There is also a granddaughter, Megan Brooks Kerr O'Neil, who is serving in the Air Force at Canon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM.

He was predeceased by two siblings: Walter O'Neil and Barbara Bennis.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with Rev. Lewis Bollinger officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
