Calvin Matthew Degler, 68, of 2800 River Road, Muhlenberg Township died October 4th at 1:50 p.m. in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been since September 27th.

Married March 31, 1962, he was the husband of Arlene K. (Rentschler) Degler.

Born in Centre Township, he was a son of the late Matthew L. and Josephine (Renninger) Degler.

He was a 1953 graduate of Ontelaunee High School.

Degler was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Reading.

He was an United States Army Veteran.

He operated the Degler Produce Roadside Stand on River Road, Muhlenberg Township for 10 years last working in July.

Degler was a 1st Degree Mason with the Free and Accepted Masons #549 F&AM.

He was a past president of the B&M Sportmans Club of Centre County.

Degler was a life member of the Reading Berks Basketball Old-Timers.

Other Life memberships include, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Degler is also survived by three sons, Eric D. husband of Karen (Borrell) Degler of Fleetwood, Craig A. husband of Laurie (Lamont) Becker of West Lawn and Dennis C. husband of Linda (Moyer) Becker of Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jolene M. Degler of Muhlenberg Township and Diane K. (Becker) wife of David Kilakis of West Lawn.

He is also survived by a sister, Marian M. (Degler) Fink of Cross Keys and a Half-Brother, Thomas Degler of Leesport.

There are also nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Viewing 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 1728 Centre Avenue, Reading, Pa 19601.
