Calogero Cupani

Calogero "Charles" Cupani, 79, died February 18, 2010 in his West Reading residence.

He was the widower of Consiglia "Connie" (Antico) Cupani.

Born January 26, 1931 in Delia, Sicily, Italy, he was a son of the late Angelo and Vincenza (DiMaria) Cupani.

A shoemaker by trade, Charles was employed by Letisse, Reading for several years and retired from Arrow International as a med-tech in 1999.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Charles loved his native country and was an avid Italian soccer fan.

Surviving are three daughters: Vincenza M. "Enza" (Cupani), wife of Pasquale DiVito of Wyomissing; Maria F. (Cupani), wife of Bruce D. Balthaser of Lenhartsville and Rosalia (Cupani), wife of Michael S. Bealer of Holly Springs, NC.

Other survivors include two brothers, Frank Cupani and Joseph Cupani and a sister, Rosalia (Cupani) Abbattiscianni.

In addition, there are six grandchildren surviving: Jessica Cupani, Celia Cupani, Susan Balthaser, Daniel Balthaser, Dalton Bealer and Samantha DiVito.

Charles was predeceased by a son Angelo C. Cupani and a brother Salvatore Cupani.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. Viewings will be held Sunday from 1-3p.m. and Monday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum immediately following the mass.
