C. Anthony (Tony) Castner
Tony Castner, 76, of Wyomissing, passed away on March 24, 2023, at the Reading Hospital. Tony was born in Newark N.J. to Charles S. Castner and Elsie (Bailey) Castner. The family relocated to East Reading and later settled in Lincoln Park. He was a graduate of Wilson H.S. where he played football and studied College Prep. He received his Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of North Alabama on a US Army full scholarship. He was a Logistics Intelligence Officer in the US Army. He then went on to complete his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University.
While working on his Master's, he worked as a Park Ranger at the Golden Gate National Rec Area. When he returned home, he started his career with the City of Reading in Community Development, and later was assistant to the Mayor, Joseph Kuzminski. He left the City to pursue a career in Cable TV and would serve as a Senior Director for Time Warner Corporation in both the Reading Cable System and the Durham, N.C., Cable System. After retiring from the Cable Industry, Tony began a new career in Real Estate. He served as the Treasurer of the Reading Berks Association of Realtors and also chair of the Finance Committee, and Legislative Affairs Committee. He also served as the Treasurer of the Turning Point AA Group where he made many dear friends.
He was the husband of Cynthia (Kuzminski) Castner; father to Christy Mack (Dave), Kelly Bingaman (widow of Andrew), and Corey Harmsen (Jeroen); Gracie and Natalie (pup and cat); his nine awesome grandkids; and his mother-in law, Mary Lou Kuzminski. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Melanie Castner McKulik, and his brother, Shannon Castner (Marcia), and nieces, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many dear friends. Tony's quick wit and vast knowledge of trivia will be sorely missed, as will his lifelong dedication to Philly sports, most especially his beloved EAGLES!
Services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Reading.
