Bryan Robert Otruba, 28, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away February 5, 2015 at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
He was the husband of Camille (Cloutier) Otruba, whom he married July 17, 2010 in Sacred Heart Chapel, Reading.
Born March 4, 1986 in St Joseph Hospital, Reading, he was a son of Pamela Inez (Zawaly) Otruba, Fleetwood.
Bryan was a graduate of Fleetwood Area High School, 2004, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Special Education in 2008 and his Master's degree in Urban Education in 2013, both from Alvernia University.
He was very active in the Alvernia community, working as a student campus minister for two years and as a graduate assistant in campus ministry for two years. He also performed mission work domestically, and two trips to the Dominican Republic, once for a week, and once for three months.
Bryan was a teacher for the Reading School District, last working in 2013.
He loved the outdoors, camping, and hiking. He earned his Eagle Scout Award from the Boys Scouts of America. He enjoyed cooking, Judo, Karate, and running.
Bryan was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Church, Hyde Park.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his brother, Eric J., husband of Amanda L. (Stoudt) Otruba, Orangeville; his maternal grandparents: Joseph J. and Inez "Sue" (Pratt) Zawaly, Fleetwood; his aunt, Patricia A. Zawaly, Blandon; and he will be dearly missed by his dog, Indiana Jones (Indy). Bryan was predeceased by his brother, John R. Rogers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., (Hyde Park) Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel, (Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Convent) 460 Saint Bernardine Street, Reading, PA 19607. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202; Hershey Hope Lodge, 125 Lucy Ave., Hummelstown, PA 17036, or Alvernia University, Attn: Campus Ministry, 400 Saint Bernardine Street, Reading, PA 19607, (please memo "Alternative Breaks").
