Brooke T. Sands, 82, of West Wyomissing, died October 29, 2006 in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Marie A. (Witman) Weber Sands. His first wife, Sallie S. (Camilli) Sands died June 12, 1990.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Roy W. and Mae M. (Tobias) Sands. He was also predeceased by his step-mother, Viola M. (Bush) Sands.
Brooke was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army for 20 years retiring in 1974. He served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He also was employed by Carpenter Steel as a heat data analyst for 13 years retiring in 1987. Between stints in the military, he was a letter carrier for 11 years for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1941.
Brooke was a member of St. Ignatius R.C. Church, Whitfield.
He a trustee and chaplain for the VFW, Adamstown, Post #8793. He was also a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America.
Brooke was a member of the Reading Old Timers Basketball Association and the Berks County Hall of Fame Association.
Other survivors include one son, Todd A. Weber, Laureldale and three daughters, Michele M. (Sands) Drayer, Flying HIlls, Debra A. (Sands) Miller, West Reading and Susan M. (Weber) Love, Sinking Spring. There is also one brother, William R. Sands, Wyomissing Hills and three sister, Virginia M. (Sands) Gerhard and Kathleen E. (Sands) Thomason both of Greenfields and Mary L. (Sands) Fisher, Reading. Eight grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Edward J.
