Bridget A. Mcdevitt

Bridget A. McDevitt, 91, passed away January 4, 2023, at The Heritage of Green Hills surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband, Leonard C. McDevitt Sr., passed away on June 2, 2007.

Born in New Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret (Brennan) Edwards.

Bridget was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Reading.

A lifelong career nurse, she was last employed by Dr. Steven Wiener as an RN before retiring in 1994.

Bridget is survived by four children: Patrick J., husband of Sandra McDevitt, Mt. Penn; Leonard C. McDevitt Jr., husband of Kathie, Laureldale; Thomas L., husband of Elaine McDevitt, Shillington; and Marian, wife of Jeffrey Thuss, Mohnton. She is also survived by one sister, Alecia La Scala of Duncan Glen, DE and ten grandchildren: Brennan, Shea, Timothy, Margaret, Adam, Ryann, Mark, Elyse, Jennifer, and Andrew; and ten great-grandchildren Grace, Mary, Lucas, Madelyn, Hannah, Daniel, Caroline, Noah, Dylan, and Abigail.

Bridget was predeceased by her daughter, Marguerite M. Cambria, and three siblings: John Edwards, Rev. Thomas L. Edwards, and Margaret Barr.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff and caregivers, notably Kat, Adrienne and Sherry at the Care Center of the Heritage at Green Hills for their compassion and understanding in caring for Bridget.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton PA, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. A viewing will be held Monday, January 9, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, and on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict's.
