Bonnie Jean Chasse, 91, of Wernersville, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Wood and Martha Bonita (Van Slyke) Quackenbush and step-mother, Genevieve (Hubbard) Quackenbush. Bonnie was the loving wife to Gerald "Jerry" J. Chasse, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage until his passing in 1991.
She graduated from Tappan Zee High School in Piermont, NY as Valedictorian in 1952. The family moved to Winston Salem, NC, where she attended Salem College. Before raising her family, she was a secretary for Western Electric, where she met Jerry.
Bonnie was a devout Catholic and attended St. Francis de Sales Church, Robesonia. She was very involved in the church choir.
She loved music and musical theatre. She performed with the choral group, Opus One. She also sang with the chorus at Alvernia University, where she took music classes. After taking a music therapy class, she worked to start a music therapy program at Phoebe Berks. Bonnie participated in musical productions with the Conrad Weiser 76ers. She had a love of laughter, gardening, reading, genealogy, and time at the beach. She also volunteered at the Wernersville Public Library and a local blood bank.
Her family was most important in her life, she was always present to support her family and friends, happy to be there when they needed help . She made it a priority to attend many events and activities. Bonnie's kindness, generosity and love of helping others made a difference in many lives.
She was the mother of four children: the late Mark Chasse and his surviving spouse, Maureen Connolly, of West Lawn, PA; Mark was predeceased by his first wife, Denise (Bryan) Chasse; Stephen Chasse (Therese), of Greensboro, NC; Jennifer Vicari (Mario), of Doylestown, PA; and Martha Chasse-Letcavage (Steve), of Auburn, PA.
Also surviving are her grandchildren: Stephen Bryan (Allison), Miranda Soisson (Andrew), Heather Bixler (Paul), Olivia Helseth (Peter), William Chasse, Isabel Chasse (Fiance Benjamin Wilson), Gabrielle Vicari (Alexander Tas), Nicholas Vicari (Alexia Joslin), Jonathan Vicari (Erica Friend), Genevieve Vicari , and Christian Letcavage. Sixteen great-grandchildren also survive. Bonnie will be missed by her sister, Jo-Anne Beam, brother, Douglas Quackenbush (Daryl Joslin) and her brother-in-law, William Denham.
In addition to her parents, spouse, and son, Bonnie was predeceased by her sister, June Denham, and brother-in-law, Theodore Beam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, 320 N Church St, Robesonia, PA 19551. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bonnie's name to St. Francis de Sales Church at the address above.
