Blanche D. Wagenhurst

Blanche D. "Nanny Blanche" Wagenhurst, 92, of Fleetwood, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010, in Kutztown Manor, where she had resided for the past eight months. She would have been 93 on September 2.

Born in Barto, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Alda (Barto) Scheidt, and the wife of the late Mahlon Wagenhurst, who passed away January 30, 1998.

She was a member of St John's UCC in Pricetown, and a member of the Pricetown Ladies Auxiliary. Blanche loved the music of Lawrence Welk and Daniel O'Donnell.

She is survived by four sons: Dennis Wagenhurst of Pricetown; David Wagenhurst and his wife Kathy of Fleetwood; Mahlon Wagenhurst and his wife Carol of Oley; and Kerry Wagenhurst of Pricetown; two daughters: Joy Ann Dickel of Lancaster and Susan Moore and her husband Rick of Fleetwood; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna L. Weinman, who passed away October 9, 2007; five brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 12:30 pm in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St, Oley with the Reverend Paul L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Pricetown Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 11:30 to 12:30 at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the nurses, nurse's aides, and staff of Kutztown Manor for their loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Wagenhurst during her time there.
