Blanche Rose Hayick

Blanche R. Hayick, 93, formerly of Sinking Spring and resident of the Heritage at Green Hills, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, in the care of Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph F. Hayick, who passed away on August 9, 2023.

Born in Reading to the late Stewart R. and Frances E. (Stankiewicz) Sterling, Blanche graduated from Reading Catholic High School in 1948.

Her career began as a record librarian for St. Joseph's Hospital. She later worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Crump's office on Museum Road before accepting a position at Harrisburg Hospital as record librarian. She retired in 1990 after 18 years as the office manager for the Conrad Weiser Medical Group.

Blanche adored her grandchildren and treasured being about to babysit after her retirement. A fan of the Phillies, Blanche attempted to watch every game. She was a contestant for Miss Reading Fair. She became a competitive bingo player in her later years. With her beloved husband, Joe, she enjoyed traveling to the beach, especially to Ocean City, MD and Florida.

Left to treasure Blanche's memory are her sons, Joel S. (Tina) of Mohnton and Scott A. (Allison) of Wernersville. Blanche was the devoted grandmother of Kayla, Dylan, Alayna, Jared, and Trey. She is also survived by her aunt, Anna Weider, who was raised alongside Blanche as her sister. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Leibold and Elizabeth "Betty" Barnhardt.
