Betty J. Sweigart

Betty J. Sweigart, 96, of Reading passed away on December 5th at her residence.

She was the wife of Rodney S. Sweigart with whom she celebrated their 56th anniversary this past October 11th.

Born in Reading on January 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry I. and Sadie (Bucher) Riegel.

Betty was a June 1935 graduate of Reading High School and was a life time member of Olivet Reformed Church, Reading. She served the church in many ways including Girls Guild, Ladies Aid and what is now known as Altar Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney S. Sweigart of Reading; a son Michael S. Sweigart, husband of Sandra of Coopersburg, PA; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was most recently employed by CNA Insurance, retiring in 1994.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings: Gertrude, Carl, Franklin, Anna, Gerald and Edith.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 1:00 PM at Olivet Reformed Church - UCC, 1648 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA with Pastor Rev. Bonnie Dalious officiating. Interment will be in Charles Evans Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Olivet Reformed Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
