Betty Rae (Hafer) Stoudt, 66, of Spring Township, died May 19, 2011 after a courageous 17 year battle with breast cancer in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
She was the loving wife of Stephen J. Usher for 28 years.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Ray R. and Elloise M. (Klopp) Hafer.
She was a 1962 graduate of Exeter High School.
Betty was employed for 32 years by MetEd retiring as an administrator in the Corporate Pension Department in 2008.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her only daughter, Barrie Stoudt Scheivert, wife of Vincent Scheivert, Coatesville and three grandchildren, Katie Rae, Lillie Rose and Vincent Patrick.
Betty is also survived by her brother, Gerald L., husband of Sandy Hafer, The Villages, FL; her sister, Lori L., wife of Phillip Buser, Alsace Township and seven nieces and nephews, Robert Keller, Brian Keller, Stacie Hamilton, Jennifer Lee, Michael Hafer, Ian Buser and Kerrie Yost.
She was predeceased by her sister, Anita L. Keller.
Betty was a phenomenal grandmother; being a grandmother was the center of her life. She loved to read and spend time at the beach. Betty will be sorely missed by her dear friends: Bonnie Wamsher and Brenda Snyder, known as the three "Bs".
Services will be Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Graveside Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, P.O.
