Betty Sotzin

Betty J. Sotzin, 85, formerly of Morgantown, died June 30, 2015, in Mifflin Center.

Her husband, Harry J. Sotzin, died July 29, 2009. Betty died on their 64th wedding anniversary; they were together for more than 70 years.

Born in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Geist) Gruber.

She was a graduate of Lebanon High School in 1947.

Betty was a member of Robeson Lutheran Church, Plowville.

She was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked part time for 18 years at the former Hayloft Gifts and Crafts in Morgantown.

She is survived by her three sons who were the light of her life: James H., husband of Turie H. Sotzin, Reading; Gregg W., husband of Jacquelyn Sotzin, Harrisburg; and Eric M., husband of June D. Sotzin, Birdsboro. There are three siblings, Robert, husband of Patricia Gruber, Florida; Georgene (Geist), wife of Paul Nee, Myerstown; and Nancy (Geist), wife of Robert Smith, Myerstown. There is one brother-in-law, George Bordlemay, Manheim, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn S. Nucum, Lebanon; and two grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Sotzin and Ryan Andrew Sotzin. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Betty was predeceased by one sister, Kathryn (Gruber) Bordlemay and one brother-in-law, Dr. A.N. Nucum.

The family wishes to thank the administration, nurses, aides and the entire staff of Cherry Tree Lane at the Mifflin Center for the wonderful care and concern they provided to Betty for the past six years.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Robeson Lutheran Church, 3520 Plow Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
