Betty Marie Schrantz

Betty Marie Schrantz, 91, formerly of Exeter Township, died January 20, 2015 in her Spring Township residence.

She was the widow of Harold Russell Schrantz, Sr., who died September 30, 1994.

Born in Lehighton, Carbon County on May 13, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Richard Green and Mabel E. (Steigerwalt) Green.

She was a member of Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church, Alsace Township.

Betty is survived by three children: Harold R. Schrantz, Jr., of Shillington; Elaine J., wife of Rev. Harry G. Stetser of Spring Township and Gail M. Schrantz, South Heidelberg Township.

Other survivors include a grandson, Timothy J., husband of Linda K. (Norris) Stetser of Altoona and two step-granddaughters: Susan E. (Stetser), widow of Albert Heidebaugh of Ocala, FL and Deborah I. (Stetser), wife of Joseph Morris of York, PA.

Also surviving are a great granddaughter, Alyssa K. Stetser and two step-great grandchildren: Jessica J. King and Robert Kramer.

She is also survived by two siblings: Janice, widow of Lee Heffner of Kissimmee, FL and Charles Green of Kutztown.

Betty was predeceased by 11 siblings: Allen, Erwin, Blanche Moyer, Lloyd, Doris Bortz, Lawrence, Arlene Heffner, Marian Barlet, Asher, Valoris and Geraldine Heffner.

Services will be held Saturday, January 24th at 10:30 am in Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church, 318 Spies Church Road, (Alsace Township) Reading, PA 19606. A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 am in the Church. Burial will be in Spies-Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church at the above address.
