Betty Jean Schaeffer

Betty J. Schaeffer, 83, of Myerstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the care of Cedar Haven Healthcare Center of Lebanon. She was the loving wife of Harold C Schaeffer celebrating 65 years on May 13.

One of 13 children born in Lebanon to the late Elmer M. and Rachel A. (Alexander) Light, Betty graduated from Bethel High School in 1960.

She previously worked at the Reading Motor Inn and later at Tre Pack.

She was very friendly and found it easy to talk to people. She loved shopping. Betty and Harold went everywhere together, and she really enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite places they visited include Atlantic City, Disney World, Hawaii, and abroad to Germany and the Bahamas.

Her memory will be treasured by her husband, Harold; their daughter, Debora K., wife of Donald E. Keim, Jr., of Wyomissing; grandchildren: Lauren Fisher (Edward), Paige, Brooke, Alex, and Austin; and great grandchildren: Aria, Oliver, and Kace.
