 Betty May (Klemmer) DeVere: May 14, 1929 – September 9, 2026

Betty May (Klemmer) DeVere, 97, passed away September 9, 2026 after a long battle with dementia. Born in Temple, PA Betty was the youngest daughter of the late John and Grace (Reinert) Klemmer.

Betty was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School where she played girls basketball and ran girls track. While in high school she worked at the local soda fountain and grocery store. She enjoyed hiking to the Pagoda with her sister and girlfriends as well as tap dancing at the local community center.

Betty was employed by Lucent Technologies for over 30 years, retiring in November, 1989. She was extremely proud to be trained and work as a clean room operator following the introduction of microelectronics to the Reading plant.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished family gatherings. She had a passion for shopping, often with her niece Linda, always staying current with the latest fashion trends. She was an avid knitter - often making sweaters, scarves, tea towels and clothes for her granddaughters’ dolls. She loved dancing and weekly outings to the movies with her sister and girlfriends. She was a member of Christ Church, Temple, attending whenever she wasn’t traveling with her friends and partner. Betty was kind and generous to everyone she knew and will be missed by all. Hers was a life well lived.

Betty is predeceased by her five Klemmer siblings: Roy, Robert, Raymond, Norman, and Martha Diefenderfer. She is survived by her son, John and his wife Meredith; two grandchildren, Claire Johns and her husband Bob, and Elise Snyder and her husband Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Kalyra and Charles Snyder, and Addison Johns; and Allan Williams, her partner for 40 years and “love of her life”.

Betty’s family is very grateful for the attentive care she received at Phoebe Berks Health Center over the past several years.

Services will be held on October 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Phoebe Berks Chapel, 1 Heidelberg Dr., Wernersville, PA 19565.
