Betty Jane Kunkel

Betty Jane Kunkel, 79 of Hamburg died May 30, 2018 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Bern Township. She was the wife of Richard C. Kunkel who died October 26, 2010. Betty was born in Windsor Township and was the daughter of the late Elton H. and Myrtle M. (Hoppes) Adam. Betty worked at the Hamburg Knitting Mill for 9 years and last worked at the Hamburg Center as a nurse's aide for 27 years and retired in 2001. She was a member of Mohrsville Church of the Brethren. Betty enjoyed cake decorating, cooking and baking, traveling and collecting Santa Clauses and angels. She is survived by 2 daughters, Pamela S. wife of David Ferkin, Janice L. wife of Jose Santiago, both of Reading, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, David H. husband of Jean Adam, Orefield, Norman E. husband of Lucy Adam, Kutztown, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Kelly, Hamburg and was predeceased by a sister, Ruth A. Dieter. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Mohrsville Church of the Brethren, 1542 Shoemakersville Road, Mohrsville, PA. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg and again on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
