Betty J. Trate

Betty J. (Nye) Trate, 92, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021, in her spring township residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reading on October 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Esther Nye.

Betty was the widow of William Trate Sr. who passed on October 3, 1994.

Betty was a kind and compassionate woman with a heart of gold. She had a love and passion for the beauty in flowers, plants and gardening.

Betty is survived by her four remaining children: Carol Dempsey, William Trate, Jr., Barbara DuGuay and Peggy Trate. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Charlotte Esther Trate on November 16, 1947 and her brother, Ronald Nye Sr.

The family would like to give a big "Thank you" to the Tower Health Home Health Care nurses, especially Tammy who provided great compassion and service.

Services will be Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
