Betty J. Lerch

Betty J. Lerch, 88, formerly of Laureldale, died May 11, 2013 in Hearthstone at Maidencreek, Maidencreek Township.

She was the wife of John E. Lerch who died December 14, 2007.

Born May 3, 1925 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late George and Hilda (Young) Whitman.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed in the loan department of Reading Trust Company for 12 years. Subsequently, she worked as a waitress with Lerch's restaurant, Laureldale for 10 years, retiring in 1977.

Betty was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, latchwork rugs and playing Bingo.

Betty loved traveling to Florida.

She is survived by her niece, Cathy Mitchell of Muhlenberg Township, who was also her caregiver; a cousin, Sylvia Kane of Reading and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
