Betty J. Fetter

Betty J. (Beard) Fetter, 99, of West Reading, Passed away on September 5, 2024, in Country Meadows Retirement Home.

She was the beloved wife of Leroy F, Fetter who passed away on February 12, 2016 after 72 years of marriage. They Married on January 31, 1944. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late George W and Mary Mogel Beard.

She worked in the administrative offices of the West Reading and later Wyomissing School District.

Betty was an active member of Olivet Reformed Church, Reading, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, sang in the church choir and was a past-member of the church consistory.

She leaves behind, two children, Janice E. (Fetter), wife of Carey M. Kaucher, West Lawn; and Douglas L. Fetter, Collegeville. Two grandchildren, Hollie, wife of Robert Burghardt, Pennsburg, and Jennifer Fetter, companion of Lesa Willis, Palmyra; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Abigail Strohl; and three step-great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by siblings: George Beard, Dorothy Matz, Flora Moyer, and Shirley Long. She is survived by sister, Grace Lengel, a resident of Villa St. Elizabeth, as well as several nieces.

The family would like to thank Country Meadows Retirement Home and staff for the great care they provided Betty since 2017.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Olivet Reformed Church, 1648 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
