Betty M. Bloom

Betty M. Bloom, 84, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, passed away September 14, 2014 in Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth.

Born December 8, 1929 in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Viola (Brunner) Taylor. She was also predeceased by her step-mother, Grace (Boyer) Taylor.

Betty was a waitress for over 44 years working for Exeter Restaurant, Reading; Sherwood Restaurant, Muhlenberg Township; Arners, Mt. Penn; and retired from Arners, Wyomissing in 1991.

She enjoyed crocheting and bingo, adored her cat, Molly, and was an avid Phillies fan. She was also a member and supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated over 50 years of sobriety.

Betty is survived by her two daughters: Joan B., wife of David Webb, Catasauqua; and Jill A., wife of Howard Trout, Wyomissing. Also surviving are her two brothers: David Taylor, Wilmington, DE; and Rev. Daniel Taylor, Laurel, DE; her five sisters: Shirley Bortner, York, PA; Esther Ebersole, Inverness, FL; Eunice Wooten, Union Bridge, MD; Miriam Schmidt, Oxford, PA; and Dorcas Folmer, Stockton, CA. Five grandchildren: Sherry, Edward, Starr, Allison, and Ashley; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson also survive her.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Shirley A. Taylor, her brother, Norman Taylor, and her former husband, Paul Bloom.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
