Betty A. (Snyder) Heinly, 74, of Leesport Borough, died August 12th at 7:55 am in St. Joseph Hospital where she had been since August 5th.

Heinly was taken there from the Laurel Center, where she had been since June 18, 2004.

She was the wife of Kenneth S. Heinly, Sr. Heinly was predeceased by her first husband, Warren P. Merkel who died January 17, 1980.

Born in Molltown, she was a daughter of the late Abner and Jennie (Dries) Snyder.

She was a member of Becker St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Molltown.

Heinly is also survived by three sons, Ronald P. Merkel of Shoemakersville, Warren P. Merkel, Jr., of Newville, Cumberland County and Terry L. Merkel of Killeen, Texas.

Other survivors include six daughters; Darlene A. (Merkel) Nye of Reading, Donna M. (Merkel) Nager of Reading, Denise R. (Merkel) Goodling of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Debra J. (Merkel) Dyarman of Newville, Cumberland County, Brenda L. (Merkel) Barrick of Newville, Cumberland County and Linda L. (Merkel) Ryan of Newville, Cumberland County.

There is also a stepson, Kenneth S. Heinly, Jr., of Hamburg and a stepdaughter, Anna (Heinly) Fajna of Shoemakersville.

She is also survived by two brothers, Morris Snyder and Irvin Snyder both of Fleetwood and three sisters, Mabel (Snyder) Blessing of Bern Township, Dorothy (Snyder) Merkel of Reading and Verna (Snyder) Krick of Montrose Manor.

There are 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Becker St. Peter's Lutheran Church, (Molltown), 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, Pa 19522. Viewings Monday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Tuesday morning 9:00 am until time of service, both in the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Contributions may be made to the church at the above address. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
