Bernice A. Paul

Bernice Anna (Rohrbach) Paul, 90, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Berkshire Commons Senior Living Community in Reading, PA.

A lifelong Reading resident, Bernice was welcomed to the world on June 14, 1932, by George W. and Margaret E. (Ebling) Rohrbach, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Robert L. Rohrbach (1931) and Richard G. Rohrbach (2000).

Bernice was a 1950 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School and a 1953 graduate of Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. In 1954, Bernice married Walter A. Paul, Jr. (deceased, 1993). During their 39 years of marriage, they created their legacy of eight children: Frederic, husband of Diane; Margaret, wife of Andrew Paroczai; Robert, husband of Rebecca; James; Sister Ann Marie Paul, SCC; Michael, husband of Teresa; George, husband of Patricia; and JoLynn, wife of Scott Plato. She was lovingly called "Nanny" by nineteen grandchildren and "Great Nanny" by fifteen great-grandchildren. In 1995, she was predeceased by her grandson, Joshua Paul.

Bernice served the Reading community for 45 years as a nurse, retiring from Berks Family Practice in 1997. In her retirement, she served as the rectory secretary at Saint Margaret Church in Reading until 2016.

A viewing for Bernice will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 10-11 AM at Saint Margaret Roman Catholic Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA, 19601. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence in the church at 11 AM. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA, 19605.
