Ben Spina

Ben Spina, retired owner of a truck-leasing business in Reading, died Oct. 4 at 6:30 a.m. in the Highlands at Wyomissing.

Spina, 82, formerly of Reading, was the husband of Antonie K. (Kopf) Spina, also a resident at the Highlands at Wyomissing.

He was president of Spina Truck Leasing, Reading, from 1949 until his retirement in 1970.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Antonio and Antonia Spina.

Spina was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Spina was a 1939 graduate of Reading High School.

He is also survived by a daughter, Teresa (Spina) Friedmann, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a son, Arno Spina, in 2002.

Services will be private. Entombment will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
