Beatrice Bustos Langdon

Beatrice "Candy" Bustos Langdon, 88, passed away October 3, 2013, in her Wyomissing residence.

Her husband, Dean E. Langdon, died September 8, 2003.

Born in Mendoza, Argentina, she was the daughter of the late Flabiano and Luisa Rodriguez de Bustos.

One of three children, she received her Maestra Normal Nacional teaching certificate from Escuela Normal Mixta de Mendoza in 1946 and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Soon after, she met her husband, Dean Langdon, an electrical engineer from Omaha, NE. He was working in Mendoza, and the two were married in 1949, shortly before moving to Berks County.

While raising her young family, Candy became a Spanish teacher in the Reading area schools. In 1972, she expanded her career to become an adult probation officer for Berks County Probation and Parole Office. There, she was brought on as the first full-time Spanish-speaking interpreter in the Berks County Court, fulfilling a lifelong goal to work in the legal system and serving the court for more than 30 years.

Candy, a loving mother and grandmother, deeply cherished her family and friends in Argentina, visiting and writing as often as possible and sharing stories and traditions of her youth with her family here. She leaves behind many beloved family members and friends in Mendoza and throughout Argentina.

Candy is survived by three children, Daniel, husband of Kathy (Koch) Langdon, Betsy (Langdon), wife of Bob Johnston, all of Wyomissing and Robert, husband of Karen (Hulsey) Langdon, Whitfield; ten grandchildren: Elise Johnston, Tara Johnston, Allie King Leupold, Peter Langdon, Lindsey Langdon, Matthew Langdon, Kate Langdon Moyer, Christopher Langdon, Marybeth Langdon and Megan Langdon and six great-grandchildren: Charles King, Mackenzie Langdon, Madison Langdon, Riley Langdon, Daniel Langdon and Emma Moyer.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 18, 2013 at noon in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11a.m. to noon in the church. Contributions may be made to John Paul II Center for Special Learning, 1092 Welsh Rd., Shillington, PA 19607. Edward J.
