Beatrice K. Bennecoff, 96, of Hamburg, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in the care of the Laurel Center. She was the widow of the late Lester S. Bennecoff, who died in 1991.
Born in Kempton to the late Joseph E. and Lizzie R. (Pauley) Geiger, she married Lester on April 7, 1946.
Beatrice first worked at Burkey's Knitting Mill before moving to Dutch Knitting Mill, where she worked from 1957 to 1987 and was very involved in constructing the costumes and floats for the King Frost Parade. She retired from Wrights Knitting Mill in 1991.
She was a member of Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny Township, and, at the time of her passing, she was the oldest member of the congregation.
Following Lester's death, Beatrice became involved in the Hamburg Widow and Widowers Association. She was also active with the Hamburg Senior Citizens. She will be remembered for the many afghans and other articles she crocheted over the years.
Left to treasure Beatrice's memory are her children, Beverly Hess of Hamburg and Barry Bennecoff (Kay) of Shoemakersville; her grandchildren, Carla Clyde (Danny), Jason Bennecoff (Beth), and Jaime Dearolf (Tom); and her great-granddaughter, Ella Bennecoff. In addition to her husband and parents, Beatrice was predeceased by her sisters, Arlene Bordner, Mildred Geiger, and Violet Geiger, and her brothers, Eugene Geiger and Joseph Geiger Jr.
Contributions in her memory may be offered to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508 , or to Red Creek Wildlife Center, 300 Moonhill Dr, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
Services for Beatrice will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny, 329 Church Rd, Kutztown, PA 19530, with committal to follow in Maxatawny Cemetery.
