Barry L. Walters

Barry L. Walters, 68, passed away in his Spring Twp. residence on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was the widower of Claudia (O'Neil) Walters, who passed away on July 11, 2019, and with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Robert and Betty (Hinnershitz) Walters.

He was a graduate of Wilson High School in 1971, and was a machine operator for Dana Corp. for 37 years. Later he was an autobody technician for Penske until his retirement.

Barry loved his dogs, motorcycle rides, fast cars, especially Chevys, and shooting clay birds. He was a member of the Cedardale Fishing Association and the Gouglersville and West Wyomissing Fire Companies. He loved to go for dinner at the fire companies especially on Taco Tuesdays. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who called him, "Pops."

Barry is survived by three daughters: Sherri (Noel) Alvarez, West Lawn; Jennifer Walters, Exeter Twp.; and Jessica (Brian, Jr.) Werntz, Ephrata; eight grandchildren: Ariella (fiance, Julian), Jadelyn, Marissa, Mia, Tayden, Grant, Sophia, and Charlotte; and three siblings: Robert (Cynthia), Bruce, and Linda (Don) Stehman. He was predeceased by one sister, Joanne Herb.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 7:00 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
