Barry H. Miller

Barry H. Miller, 76, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Phoebe Berks, Wernersville. He was the loving husband of Sharon A. (Horvath) Miller. Born July 25, 1941 in Reading, Barry was the son of the late Howard and Florence (Matz) Miller.

A 1959 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Barry earned his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Notre Dame in 1963. He was a self-employed engineer for over 40 years until his retirement.

Barry loved youth sports, and was a CYO basketball coach, a PIAA softball umpire and started the girls' softball program at Holy Name High School. But perhaps Barry's greatest passion was for the Fighting Irish, and he served faithfully as President and Vice President of the Notre Dame Alumni Chapter of Berks County.

Barry was a lifelong and founding member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Sinking Spring, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a special minister for many years.

Barry is survived by his three children: son Stephen H. Miller, husband of Kristi of Anniston, AL, and daughters Stephanie A. Hunsberger of Wernersville, and Michele L. Solaroli of Yorktown, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, who he greatly cherished: Wyatt, Isabella, Harrison, Gabrielle, Andrew, Maggie and Benjamin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 12, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, with inurnment to follow at Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call prior to the mass, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at the church.
